Sept. 19 is the big day and we need your help to celebrate Tolland’s 300th anniversary!
The Tolland 300th Anniversary Committee is seeking energetic volunteers to help throw a big party: the 300th parade and townwide picnic on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Volunteers are needed to help at the parade line-up area and during the parade from 11 A.M. to about 2:30 P.M. Duties include parade monitors, section walkers, and line-up organizers in the areas of Tolland Intermediate School, the town green, and St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church.
The large, regional parade steps off at 1 P.M. from the school on Old Post Road, traverses the town green, and ends at the new Tolland Founders Monument at Dunn Hill and Old Stafford roads.
The Celebrate Tolland festival/300th picnic will follow from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. Volunteers are needed to help in the food, music, vintage baseball game, and children’s game areas from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Tolland Middle School.
Civic groups are also needed to help clean up the green and/or the middle school grounds on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 20.
An all-volunteers meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 P.M. at the Tolland Recreation Center. Anyone who would like to volunteer Sept. 20 should also plan on attending that meeting to receive instructions, a parking pass, and a volunteer t-shirt, but all volunteers are asked to email Kate Farrish at kate@tolland300.org before the Sept. 14 meeting.
