Wide range of great food will be available at Celebrate Tolland/300th Anniversary Picnic

What’s a picnic without great food? Celebrate Tolland and the Tolland 300th Anniversary Picnic Sept. 19 will feature a wide range of delicious food for sale at modest prices at the event, which runs from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Tolland Middle School.

The Town of Tolland and the Tolland 300th Anniversary Committee have lined up an impressive list of food vendors. The Country Butcher of Tolland will be selling its special 1715 Settlers’ Sausage, pulled pork, turkey legs, beans, chili, and caramel apple donuts. The Rockville Exchange Club will be selling fried dough.

In addition to donating a large tent to create the Tolland Lions Club Pavilion at the picnic, the club will also be selling hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, fries, cotton candy, Jeff’s Kettle Corn, lemonade, soda, and iced tea.

Monet’s Table Restaurant & Catering of Tolland will be selling vegetable soup and veggie wraps. Papa T’s Restaurant of Tolland will be selling meatball grinders, sausage and pepper grinders, and soup. Little Mark’s Big Barbeque of Vernon will be selling brisket, ribs, cole slaw, and chicken legs. American Creamery of Tolland will be selling coffee and ice cream.

Bottles of Banner Water will also be for sale for $1 at the picnic. Apples that have been donated by Kollas Orchard and Wright’s Orchard will be handed out for free.

Picnic-goers can bring their own chairs and blankets and their own fare as well. Since parking will be limited at the middle school, everyone is being encouraged to park at Tolland High School and take free shuttle buses that will run throughout the event.

The picnic follows the Tolland 300th Anniversary Parade at 1 P.M. along the historic town green. For more information about both events, visit Tolland300.org or like the 300th celebration on Facebook.
