Lee & Lamont Realty Becomes Major Donor to the Tolland 300th Anniversary Celebration

TOLLAND – Lee & Lamont Realty Development of Vernon, which built many of the homes in Tolland in the 1970s and 1980s, has become the latest major donor to the Tolland 300th Anniversary Celebration, with its gift of $1,000. The company at 40 West St. is the fourth “Crandall” level sponsor of the anniversary. Donors are listed on the anniversary website at www.tolland300.org.

Owners Richard Lee and Stephen Lamont described their reasons for making the gift this way: “Residents new to Tolland since the year 2000 would not be wrong to think that Tolland is an ideal place to raise a family with many lovely subdivisions. However, those residents here in the 1970s and 1980s know that the transition from rural to suburb was not without its challenges. Lee & Lamont Realty experienced those challenges and in a small way recognizes that like many of the families who lived in Tolland in the 1800s and 1900s, we are a part of Tolland’s history. We know future generations will face new challenges and add to the history of Tolland, but for now, we are excited to share the milestone of 300 years of Tolland history.

Celeste Senechal, chairwoman of the anniversary committee, thanked Lee & Lamont for its gift. “The anniversary committee is grateful to Lee & Lamont for their generous donation,’’ she said. “It is the latest of many Tolland-area businesses to support us.”

With its partner, the Tolland Historical Society, the anniversary committee is planning many exciting events to mark the anniversary in 2015. They include a Charter Day celebration for schoolchildren on the Tolland Green May 12, a gala on May 16 and a large regional parade and townwide picnic, combined with the Celebrate Tolland festival, on Sept. 19.

More donations are being sought from businesses and residents who want to be a part of the celebration. Opportunities include being a member of the “Tolland 300 Club” by making a $300 donation.

Checks should be made out to the Town of Tolland, with “300th anniversary committee” in the memo line. Donations can be mailed to the Tolland 300th Anniversary Committee, Town Hall, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084.
