Dr. Frederick M. Daniels Becomes Latest Donor to the Tolland 300th Anniversary Celebration

Dr. Frederick M. Daniels, a longtime dentist in town, has become the latest major donor to support this year’s Tolland 300th Anniversary celebration.

Daniels has made a $1,000 donation to the anniversary celebration, making him the tenth “Crandall” level sponsor of this year’s anniversary events. Donors to the anniversary effort are listed at www.tolland300.org.

Daniels said he made the donation because he and his wife, Vicki, have lived in town for 32 years and have been active in the community. He previously served on the town council and she served on the board of education.

“We have a strong identity with the town, and we wanted to show support for the many volunteers who are making the 300th anniversary such a special event,” he said.

Daniels has been a practicing dentist in Tolland for 39 years. He began his general dental practice in the historic home at 31 Tolland Green before outgrowing the space and moving to his current location at 12 Goose Lane.

Celeste Senechal, chairwoman of the anniversary committee, said she was grateful for Dr. Daniels’ donation.

“The anniversary committee thanks Dr. Daniels for his generous support,” she said. “His donation will help us hold many memorable events for Tolland’s 300th anniversary.”

Daniels will be honored by the town council, the 300th Anniversary Committee, and its partner, the Tolland Historical Society, on April 28 at 7:30 P.M. in council chambers at town hall.

The anniversary committee, historical society, and many civic groups will be holding dozens of events to mark the anniversary this year. They include a Charter Day celebration for schoolchildren on the Tolland Green May 12 and a tour of historic homes and museums on the green June 7. The Tolland Founders Monument will be dedicated June 13, and a large regional parade and townwide picnic will end the celebration on Sept. 19.

Businesses and residents can still donate to support the celebration. Opportunities include being a member of the “Tolland 300 Club” by making a $300 donation. Checks should be made out to the Town of Tolland, with “300th anniversary committee” in the memo line. Donations can be mailed to the Tolland 300th Anniversary Committee, Town Hall, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084.
